Vent door friction

I was always having a problem getting the fresh vent air door to stay open a small amount. After a while it would blow full open. I could never get the friction on the bolt just right. The difficulty was holding the bolt head because it was a philips head. The simple “fix” was to change the out the philips head bolt with a hex head bolt. I used an AN3 x 1/2” long, same nylon washers, steel washer, and locking nut. I also flipped the bolt and installed it from the top, just made sense. Now using 2 open end wrenches it is much easier to set the friction just right.

Since making this mod I haven’t had to adjust the friction in 2 years. In flight the door now stays at the exact opening I leave it.
