On a rare occasion I would forget to raise the flaps after takeoff. Since the Dynon is set up for a flap warning I thought I would take advantage of that feature. Adding the micro switch is fairly simple, then wire one side to ground and the other to connector 37 pin 9 on the Dynon. The Dynon can be programmed to have the switch open when the flaps are raised or closed when they are raised.
In the Dynon menu sensor input mapping the screen looks like below. Then I went to HARDWARE CALIBRATION > EMS CALIBRATION > FLAPS CALIBRATION, and followed the instructions in the top left. Basically I set the flap lever in the up (retracted)position and recorded it and then in the down position and recorded it. Now if the flaps are in any position other than up and the airspeed exceeds 82 kts the voice in the headset says “flaps overspeed”.
